In our ELA class we have learned about equality in our society as whole, many people are discriminated because of skin color, background, gender, and wealth/income. I’m curious of how aware you are to these problems, such as in the United States President Trump has put a travel ban on several Muslim countries and I really do think this is completely unfair. There is no reason for why he is doing this. Many people put labels on things, such as the Muslim population, but we haven’t gone through what they have so we can’t say anything about them because we haven’t gone through what they have. I’m just curious of what you know about social issues around the world and if you knew about some of these things.

Hello Nate,
we are Jonas and Jan and we’re happy to have you as a penpal. At present the social situation in all of Europe is vey tense. With all of the refugees coming into Germany we see terrorism and crime increasing. Our opinion is, that we have to give them shelter and a new home, because they flee from war and left everything behind. But not everyone in Germany thinks so, because some of the refugees don’t want to live by our standards and thus many people see the negative side effects only. We think all European countries shold work together to get this crisis under control. It also a matter of money and we think the countries in Europe should cooperate more. We don’t think that it is not good what president Trump is doing right now, and that he separates the US somehow. What do you think about the refugee crisis? Do you experience it in Canada, too?
So we also have some personal questions for you: we’re big soccer fans. We would like to know what your favourite football clubs and soccer players are.
